1. New York Road Runners (NYRR) 9+1.
After running the NYC Half Marathon a few weeks ago and not doing any real runs for the past few weeks, I have decided to start running again. Previously, I had mentioned that I registered for the Montreal Marathon in September. Now, I have realized that I want to give the NYC Marathon another shot. To do this athletic feat, I have decided to attempt the New York Road Runners (NYRR) 9+1 plan. In this plan, if you run 9 NYRR-sponsered races and volunteer for one race then you will have automatic eligibility for the NYC Marathon in 2017.
This past weekend, I ran the City Parks Foundation Run for the Parks - a four-mile race that raises awareness for fitness programs and parks throughout the city. The race was great; however, it was really cold out . . . for a sunny April morning.
Overall, it was a nice easy run. Just a few stats: 7'30'' min/mi pace, 405 calories burned, 141 average beats per minute, and 4,755 calories burned. I was a little upset that I did not have enough juice to do a hard 400 meter sprint at the end of the race. Oh well, there will be plenty of races in the future.
After the run and teaching my Biology class later in the day, I treated myself to a strawberry basil margarita and a Mexican Cobb salad at Rocco's Tacos and Tequila in downtown Brooklyn.
2. Crunch Fitness' spring schedule
One of the cool things about Crunch Fitness is that the gym changes up the class schedules at the start of a new season. Actually . . . sometimes it is good and sometimes it is bad. It is bad when the corporation either moves or cancels a class that you love; but, one should not cry over spilled milk (unless it is chocolate milk). Here are some of the classes that I am interested in attending at least one. Perhaps, there will be a blog post in the future about some of these class.
Ok, that is enough out of me.
