Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) – Malta 🇲🇹

Emma Muscat – Out of Sight

Final Thoughts:

I will say that I really liked her outfit and the piano intro. To be honest, I kind of wish that she stayed at the piano because the song (well mainly, the vocals) unfortunately went downhill once she left the piano. She seemed to be out of breath while singing as she was walking from the piano to the other part of the stage. Unfortunately, I do not see this one moving on to the final. To leave this on a positive note, I thought staging effects were kind of cool.

DESTINY – JE ME CASSE

Interesting fact: Destiny won Jr. Eurovision in 2015

  • Semi-final results: 1st place out of 16 performances (325 total points – 174 national juries and 151 public votes).

  • Final results: 7th out of 26 performances (255 total points – 208 national juries and 47 public votes)

While Destiny finished in the top 10 ten, I gotta say that I was a bit surprised with the low number of public votes that she received in the final (since she was one of my favorites). Hell, I think she was surprised.

Top: Before receiving the public vote; Bottom: After receiving the public vote

I wonder if being the 6th performer in the final was partially responsible for the low votes from the public because everyone that placed higher than Destiny performed in or near the second half of the final. While she did well with the national juries (probably because of her vocal gymnastics), she received the least amount of votes from the public compared to others that landed in the top 10. I wonder what happened to the public’s opinion regarding Destiny from her semi-final round where she received the second-highest number of public votes to the final where she was in the bottom half for the public votes. Also, she received the highest amount of combined votes of all of the semifinal performers from rounds one and two. I wonder if folks were like she’s probably going to do well with the public vote so I’ll give my votes to another performer.

Since she is a talented singer and has a very engaging and bubbly personality, I think that she will have great post-Eurovision success IF she continues to use the momentum from Eurovision 2021. By now, I would have hoped that she would have released a few singles or even an album and have gone on some sort of promotional tour in Europe (eg starting with the countries where she received a good amount of votes) and maybe in the States.
